Wow, Vampdaddy, another post that just blows me away. It's easy to sound sarcastic and insincere on the internet, but I mean that. That was beautiful.

I hope you were able to enjoy your Father's Day. You, your wife, and your little boy have all worked hard for it. Keep taking care of your family, but let them take care of you too.

And here's to you, Vampdaddy--may all of your future days, especially Father's Days be better. Your comment about the toys in the play room remind me how some elements of parenting are universal--picking up toys, cuddling in the morning . . . and your simple, yet wrenching accounts of Vampfamily's days remind me how precious and fragile those simple moments are. They remind me to take as much time holding 3B as he needs to wake up and to never be too tired, to achy, or too distracted to get down on the floor and play with him, or bend over and pick up his toys. I'm sorry that circumstances make your tales so much more poignant than they would be otherwise, but I also know that without cancer, I would still have many lessons to learn from you. On this Father's Day, I'm grateful to know you, such as that is, here in Blogville.
